As a newbee (15 months) golfer, I suggest the Raspberry Golf course just off the freeway at the Bell Road Exit. You'll experience a carefree atmosphere here; it's less than $12; and I can play nine holes in less than two hours. I regularly play at the enchanting Black Oak nine-holer on Dry Creek Road off the I80 exit. This is a beautifully maintained and challenging course; and nine holes with cart is less than $20. Practice putting green is in great shape and it's fun to practice on the range. If you see instructor Carol French, tell her hi for Loyce. If you're up to the big challenge, opt for The Ridge on Bell Road; but carts really are a must in order to keep pace at this big-drive course. Super Steve Fackler does a beautiful job maintaining this Robt. Trent Jones course and I enjoy my play here, especially the ninth hole overlooking the water. Yes, Dark Horse is still standing and it really is a beautiful course; so if you're up to another serene experience, albeit a challenging one, go for the gusto at this alluring course on Combie Road adjacent to Lake of the Pines. Say hey to instructor Terry Love for me and go to the Darkhorse site and sign up for the free birthday round.
