John Doolittle: The Writing on the Wall 2007/09/14 10:07 Karma: 4
Some local electeds and political types within the 4th CD have made it quite clear they are either politically obtuse (which I presume not to be the case given their positions), or outright unwilling to recognize the political reality unfolding before them.

This preeminent writing on the wall is the undeniable fact that Congressman Doolittle is at the end of his political career. Mr. Doolittle has been an effective advocate for this congressional district for many years, and should be recognized in kind.

However, it is now time for Mr. Doolittle to step aside. It appears the voters in the 4th CD recognize this relatively simple political equation, but it seems some local electeds and political types do not.

Why you say? Because they feel beholden to the Congressman for their political careers, and refuse to publicly recognize the fact Doolittle is a sinking ship that will inevitably go down and take all passengers who remain aboard with him.

I can only imagine the personal struggle folks like Uhler, Kranz, Cox, Park, PCGOP, etc. must be wrestling with…I must publicly stand by the Congressman because he helped me get where I am now…but wait…I know he’s not going to be able to get reelected and will possibly be indicted…then what...my political career will suffer because of the stigmatic stench of my prior support for John…oh my…I guess I will just continue to support John and pretend things are not as bad as people and polls indicate.

This rationalization folks is exactly what we are seeing from some of our local leaders. You would think these types would have the courage and wherewithal to recognize a change in our Congressional leadership is necessary and position themselves accordingly. Instead, a select group of Doolittle’s political pawns choose to neglect this fact, while publicly supporting the Congressman, all the while denying the writing on the wall they know to be true in their heart of hearts.

Well since this is a public forum, I’m curious what you, reading this right now, feel and how you would like to vote in November?

I keep thinking about that Coasters song: "Charlie Brown"....keeps playing in my head every time I hear the word "Doolittle"....

Holmes needs to step up and secure funding from the Republican party, to assure getting nominated. The ONLY way the Republicans can hold this seat is to oust Doolittle in the primary....
