How could you ABANDON your DOG? 2009/08/11 22:42 Karma: 1
Shock and anger are the emotions I felt when I saw a blonde woman, driving a silver car, abandon her chocolate lab, on the side of the road today. I watched as she let her dog out of her car, look around to see if anyone was watching, then got back into her car. As I drove by I was unsure, but felt that red flag in my gut, and so I slowed to watch. Through my rear view mirror I saw this person do such an unforgiveable thing. I watched her drive away as her dog tried to chase after her car. I turned into a driveway, got out of my car, shouted and pointed at the insufferable person in anger “I saw what you did! I see you!” She looked at me then slithered away like the slime that she is.
I drove down the street to pick up the dog thinking I would get him to a rescue. Then I noticed how the dog was walking. This poor animal is in desperate need of medical attention. His paws and ears are bleeding from infection. His nails are long and deformed from lack of care. It appears he has been kept in a kennel for a very long time as he has difficulty walking. He is also intact and needs to be neutered. Although it is difficult for him to walk he was happy to try to jump into the back of my truck. He greeted my like an old friend. I got him home and gave him some water. He drank and drank water like he hadn’t had any for days. When I took him some food I asked him to sit. He did like a good boy and waited patiently for me to put it down.
My family has two rescued Australian Cattle Dogs. We care for them like they are family. If it ever became difficult to continue to care for them, we would take the steps to find them a good home. I understand that times are tough for so many people but abandoning your pet is not the solution to your problems. If this person needed assistance with her dog she simply had to call a shelter or rescue group to come pick up her dog. There are many people in our community who are willing to help find homes for animals, if one would simply take the time to find the assistance. I am looking for some assistance to take care of this dogs’ medical conditions and to find him a good home. He seems very nice and does deserve the very best care, especially since he was abandoned by such a vile person.

I would like to thank the people who have helped me to help this Dog.
First we decided to give him a name and will foster him until we can find him a WONDERFUL FOREVER HOME. Be cause we picked him up on the side of the road we decided to name him "Road Sign" but we will call him "Roadie" for short. Roadie has many Fiary Godmothers and Guardian Angels on his side. I would like to thank our SUPER Wonderful dog sitter Katie Aggurie who contacted the people she knows to get the ball rolling on Roadies health care. She continues to help us everyday with administering his ear meds and by giving us moral support. Rosemary at the Cat House who invited us to see her vet and who has provided us with special dog food to help with Roadies allergies, medications, and general care. And the Groomer at Pet Xing who did such a wonderful job of cleaning out Roadies ears and making him sparkle today. He pranced out of her store strutting his stuff.
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for all of your help wit ROADIE
