PETPOWER 2007/09/30 14:23 Karma: 4
I'd like to thank Craig Graham for having the SPCA on his site because we need the animals and the animals need us. I have four pets and three of them are shelter/adopted animals. I strive to be a good pet parent and my biggest challenge is the wild boy parrot Paco. Mavis and Smurf are the felines we've adopted and Millie The Meek is the coon-hound mix we adopted from a shelter. Because I love animals so much, I live in conflict since I do occasionally find myself eating meat; so when I change to no-meat, I'll like myself better, for sure. I would encourage others to adopt a pet because the pretty little pets like Paco are on the top tier of life; they have it made; but the "underdogs" that are plain-looking or older or handicapped are truly blessings because most of them are so appreciative. I am glad I am pet-connected even when Mavis howls for her food and Smurf uses me as a stepping stone and Millie constantly begs for more/more food and Paco can sometimes nip, I'm pleased to be surrounded by feathers, fur and animal energy. Almost forgot: We have the neighbor dog who has adopted us, Chipper; so four and one-half pets abound around the Smallwood domain.

Pet connected is wonderful. Loved your pets. Especially your bird Paco. What a doll.

Mavis, Smurf have minds of their own, so does Millie The Meek! What a name for a dog.

The Adopted pet Chipper is beautiful. Enjoyed his company too.

Have two cats. Minnie and Zoey. Their precious, however dealing with the issue of peeing on rugs. Anyone have advice about this? Need to take them to the vet to see what the trouble is.

Behavioral issues probably.

Thank you very much Craig for providing the SPCA Link. Love looking at all the animals

Great review Loyce of Pets!

I'm lucky because Smurf and Mavis share a cat box (one in the garage and one inside); but some cats don't like sharing. Cats are fastidious and if their box is not cleaned out regularly, they will rebel. When Mavis was just a pup, she was out of control; but she must have been abused because she came around and now that she's almost ten years old, I can say she's always used her box. Of course, when they have stomach problems, there is an occasional upchuck; but arm/hammer and soapy water takes care of this. Best to brush them regularly so as to prevent the hairball problem. Guess I'd better go and clean out the box now that I'm thinking of it.

They both share a litter box out in the garage. We only have one in the garage. Used to keep one in the house, but just decided to condense it to one.

Will figure out the solution to the problem sometime soon. Brushing a cat is important to lessen the hairballs.

Are your cats both outdoor/indoor?
