Z-Trim (Fiber based fat replacement product) 2007/11/13 11:28 Karma: 1
I've been using this Fat Replacement product for a couple of weeks now, ever since I read about it in Consumer Reports (11-07 issue).

Z-Trim is made from corn hulls, its ground into micro-fiber that mixes with water into a gooey gel that replaces fats in recipes.

Cake Mix? instead of one stick of butter, use 1/2 stick and 1/2 cup of Z-Trim gel.

Tuna Fish? instead of Six Tablespoons of mayonnaise, how about 2 tablespoons of mayo and 4 tablespoons of Z-Trim.

Cookies? My favorite Toll House Recipe calls for 2 sticks of butter. We tried one stick of butter and 4 oz of the gel, with delicious results.

Z-Trim is not a complete substitute for fats and oils.
You cannot deep-fry food in it.

Unlike Olestra (remember "Wow Chips"?), Z-Trim doesn't produce ANY gastric side effects. I ate 6 cupcakes and 1 cup of tuna, with no gas problems whatsoever.

This product has been taste-tested by family and friends with positive results.

My only complaint is that its rather expensive, but I guess its cheaper (in the long run) than liposuction, lap-band, or gastric bypass (LOL).
