Hello. My name is Emma Farrell and in April my mother, Sharon Mansfield, and I opened a new fabric store in Newcastle. We have had a wonderful response from the local sewing community and are thrilled with our progress.
Just thought I'd introduce myself. Thanks for starting the thread!

Emma, I just happened to see an ad for your shop not two days ago. I am a mother who has NO sewing experience, but suddenly finding the need to sew puppets, costumes, aprons, etc. for my children. Do you offer classes for first-timers??? Thanks, KJGraham

Hello! Yes, we offer introductory, one-on-one, sewing lessons for $10/hour and they're made to fit your schedule. We also have a great schedule of group classes that you can find at our website: www.thetinthimble.com. Feel free to give us a call and schedule an intro lesson - we recommend 2-3 hours per session so you'll feel like you've really accomplished something by the time you leave. Thanks! Emma

Just wanted to let you know about the new business that we're opening on March 15 in the downtown area of Auburn . Me Gusta Baby is an entirely eco-friendly, fair trade baby and children's store. We will carry non-toxic products that are fun and stylish. Among the items we will carry are many lines of organic baby clothes, eco-friendly diaper bags, non-toxic bottles, organic bedding and bath products, non-toxic toys, non-toxic highchairs, bassinets and cribs, and organic baby carriers. We will offer baby registries as well as many family-centered special events. We want to actively be a part of the community. Every month, we will donate 2% of our proceeds to local organizations. We are also going to have a space where playgroups can get together weekly. For added convenience to busy parents, we will offer "eco-parties." We will bring our merchandise to you, so that you can have a private shopping experience with your friends. My husband and I both grew up in Auburn. I worked in the film industry in Los Angeles for many years, but always knew that I wanted to raise my family in Auburn. We had our first baby last April. Thanks so much! Wow, sounds like you are going to have a great offering of products and interesting events too! Can't wait to check it out.
May I suggest you also consider adding a coffee bar to your shop? I have been hard-pressed to find a coffee house in Auburn equipped with a Children's Corner (i.e. books, puzzles or toys to keep kids busy). Us moms like coffee too!
Also, there is a wonderful music program for infants/toddlers/preschoolers (and their caregivers) called Auburn Music Together. Once your business is off the ground, you might consider having a demo music class at your shop. Feel free to let me know if you are interested. I can put you in touch with the director of the program.
Best of luck, Kelli Graham

Hi Kelli,
We will definitely consider your great idea of having a coffee bar in the store...perhaps we can do this in the near future.
Also, we want to have as many children's events as possible. I'd love to get in contact with the director of Auburn Music Together.
Thanks so much for your interest. I look forward to meeting you once the store opens.
Best, Raj
