Placer Nature Center hosts Master Gardeners for Questions and Composting!
Saturday, July 12, 11am-12pm

Ever wonder why your tomatoes are funny shapes or what to look for on a ripe melon? Or maybe you have an unidentified insect or a plant with funny spots on it. Bring all your plant and gardening questions to Placer Nature Center on July 12th from 11AM-2PM, local Placer County Master Gardeners will be on hand for all your trickiest questions!

As avid gardeners themselves, Master Gardeners strive to help others become successful too. What’s more, if you have a question they can’t answer, they have access to the University of California’s wealth of publications and experts to get a proper answer.

In Placer County, Master Gardeners have been trained in plant science and horticulture through the University of California Cooperative Extension (UCCE). In exchange for this high-level training, they agree to volunteer time to bring local plant, pest and disease information to the gardening public Placer County Master Gardeners are also trained Master Composters.

If you do have something like an insect or a strange, diseased plant trimming you would like to show a Master, please bring it with you but make sure it is in a sealed bag! The Master Gardeners will also be giving a composting demonstration, and can answer questions on mulch, vermicomposting and more.

Bring your questions on insect control, irrigation and proper tools, but don’t forget the kids! All children will have the opportunity to plant a radish seed that they can take home with them to watch grow. There will also be information available on how to create a National Wildlife Federation Wildlife Garden and how to get certified. All the Nature Center’s exhibition halls will be open for viewing and exploration including the Main Exhibit Hall and WaterShed Learning Center, Discovery Lab, Maidu Village, Demonstration Garden and The Nature Shop.

Placer Nature Center, a private 501(c) (3) nonprofit, is open to the public and maintains miles of trails on their 60-acre campus.
