The Power Of Nightmares (10:00AM - 11:00AM)

The Power of Nightmares:  Part 3, from BBC News.  (It is not necessary to have seen part 1 & 2 to benefit.)

See how the "Politics of Fear" developed.  Those with the darkest fears became the most powerful.

Should we be worried about the threat from organized terrorism or is it simply a phantom menace being used to stop society from falling apart?

In the past our politicians offered us dreams of a better world. Now they promise to protect us from nightmares.

The most frightening of these is the threat of an international terror network. But just as the dreams were not true, neither are these nightmares.

In a three part series, the Power of Nightmares explores how the idea that we are threatened by a hidden and organized terrorist network is an illusion.

A fantasy that politicians then found restored their power and authority in a disillusioned age.  At the heart of the story are two groups: the American neo-conservatives and the radical Islamists.

Both were idealists who were born out of the failure of the liberal dream to build a better world.

Old State Theater, 985 Lincoln Way, Auburn.

Presented by Veterans for Peace, Gold Country Chapter #122.

--Suggested donation, $5.  FREE for H.S. students.  No one turned away.

MARCH 2

42nd STREET

Everyone's anxious on Broadway. Their show's got to be good, got to. Because the alternative's the street - naughty, gaudy, bawdy, sporty, 42nd Street. Delight in the dancin' feet of Ginger Rogers and Ruby Keeler. "The backstage musical par excellence, the grand-daddy of them all... extravagant musical numbers."-greatestfilms.org. 1933

"All right, now I'm through. But you keep your feet on the ground and your head on those shoulders of yours and go out, and Sawyer, you're going out a youngster but you've got to come back a star!"-- These words weren't cliches when Warner Baxter first said them to Ruby Keeler

HypnoBirthing® Childbirth Class (All Day)

HypnoBirthing®
Childbirth Classes

Learn how to create a birthing environment that is calm, serene and joyful, rather than tense and stressful.

Learn to use your natural birthing instincts to birth your baby in a way that most mirrors the way that nature intended.

“Tension, fear and interventions cause the body to malfunction, then there is pain. We teach women to actually relax their body to work the way it was designed to work.” Based on the belief that childbirth is a natural, healthy event, not a medical emergency, HypnoBirthing teaches women to use self-hypnosis, relaxation and slow breathing techniques to keep discomfort from occurring in the first place.

HypnoBirthing classes are offered in Auburn, in private group sessions in a beautiful, relaxing downtown location by a Certified HypnoBirthing® Practitioner.

Mothers and their birthing partners are invited to attend a series of five weekly 2˝ hour classes held on Wednesday evenings.
