Creative Kids Preschool & Child Care in Meadow Vista, CA, is proud to announce that they are joining hands with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital to conduct a Trike-A-Thon fundraiser to benefit children’s disease research.  St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is internationally recognized for its pioneering biomedical research that is dedicated to finding cures for children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases.  St. Jude freely shares its discoveries with scientific and medical communities around the world.  No family ever pays for treatment not covered by insurance, and families without insurance are never asked to pay.

ALL young children are encouraged to participate providing they bring their own trike, a donation, and sign-in prior to riding.  The Trike-A-Thon has been scheduled for Saturday, April 12, 2008, between 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.  The trike-only lap-track will be chalked out on the Meadow Vista Park Tennis Courts in Meadow Vista.  Auburn Recreation District kindly donated the use of the park’s courts in support of this fun supportive event.  Positioned around the trike track will be colorful one-way, speed limit, and stop signs.  Also located along the trike route will be rest/pit stops and refreshment “Fill-Them-Up” stations staffed by older non-trike-riding children.

Bike helmets are required to be worn by all participants; however, if a participating youngster does not already have a correctly sized child’s bike helmet, a free bike helmet will be given to him/her at the event.  The bike helmets are a wonderful donation offered by The National SAFE KIDS Campaign, a national non-profit organization dedicated solely to the prevention of unintentional childhood injury (www.safekids.org).  The Meadow Vista Holiday Market in conjunction Raley’s and Bel Air Grocery Stores have kindly offered to donate water, juice, and refreshments for the trike participants, their pit crews, supporters, and fans.

In the week prior to the event, Creative Kids Preschool & Child Care will be emphasizing proper bike safety and the use of safety helmets to the enrolled preschoolers.  The National Safety Council estimates that accidents involving bicycles and motor vehicles cause about 1,000 fatalities and 40,000 injuries each year.  Throughout bike safety week, the preschool children will receive bike safety coloring sheets and view a bike safety video produced by St. Jude’s Children’s Research hospital.

Flat rate, pledges per lap, and company/business matching gift amount donations will be accepted in cash or by check made payable to: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.  Any individual, company, or organization wishing to make a tax-deductible donation of any amount (or a matching gift fund), can mail their pledges or check(s) to Creative Kids Preschool & Child Care, P.O. Box 580, Meadow Vista, CA 95722, or call (530)-878-6766 for assistance.  All donations collected (100%) will be forwarded to St. Jude Research Hospital.  Special Trike Licenses will be handed out to all participants, as well as additional incentive prizes for trike participants depending on the level of donations they collect (to be received 30 days following the event).

This should be a fun event where local preschool age children can help and support children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases from around the world.  In last year’s event, thirty-six energetic young children rode their tricycles a combined total of 2,379 laps around the tennis court (542,412 feet) which calculated out to almost 103 miles.  Their incredible efforts earned a little over $1,700 in donations!

On behalf of Creative Kids Preschool & Child Care and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital , we wish to thank you for your support.  So, on your mark, get set, and GO pledge a donation to a worthy wonderful cause!
