Sierra College Presents “Chamber Music Alive!”
Holiday Concert Featuring Vivaldi’s “The Four Seasons”
Sunday, December 2, at 3:00 p.m. in Dietrich Theatre
“Chamber Music Alive!”, the celebrated music series whose popularity
and acclaim has grown through the years, is celebrating its fifth
season with a special gala concert featuring orchestra and soloists.
The concert will be given on Sunday, December 2, at 3:00 p.m. at the
Dietrich Theatre on the Sierra College Rocklin Campus.
The
highlight of the program will be a fresh interpretation of Vivaldi’s
“The Four Seasons,” one of classical music’s most popular works,
featuring an ensemble made up of some of the top professional musicians
from throughout California. Ben Dominitz, violinist and music director
of the series will perform as both solo violinist and conductor of the
ensemble. A feature of the performance will be the recitation of the
sonnets Vivaldi wrote to accompany the performance.
Also works by Handel and Boccherini
In
addition to the Vivaldi, works by Handel and Boccherini will also be
presented, including the rarely played cello concerto in C Major by
Boccherini. The soloist for this work is Eric Gaenslen, cellist of the
internationally renowned Rossetti String Quartet. Handel’s beautiful
Concerto Grosso in B flat Major will round out the program.
