Not to be confused with Maria's in Auburn, this restaurant is located in Grass Valley and has very nice decor and atmosphere. Very clean and very kid friendly. They even had the high chairs ready and waiting for us when we arrived at the table.

The food here is really good. I classify it as Cal-Mex or gourmet-Mex (as in not "authentic Mexican"). The dishes are well prepared and have a nice presentation and the portions are generous. The food, though not necessarily authentic, certainly beats the large Mexican chain in the Bel-Air shopping center.

If you venture out to Grass Valley, I recommend stopping here and trying it out.

I've lived in Auburn for the past 5 years and only heard about Max's recently. I'm glad I got the chance to check it out. I had the #2 Black Forest Ham & Smoked Cheddar. The full size sandwich was perfect for me and the honey mustard was a great touch. I'll definitely be back to try the coffee, more sandwiches and free WiFi!
