NATURAL WONDERS

Loyce

OK, I admit to ingesting meat products; I confess to my choice to fall into eating animals in the abstract; but I do see myself shifting more and more away from such and toward fish (OK, I know these were once living creatures).  I do, however, have a great love and appreciation for those creatures of the wild including a pair of undomesticated felines and a miniature parrot and it pains me when I see brightly featured in the Sacramento Bee, photos of women holding the wild creatures of the sky, ducks that have been shot down from the sky (do not consume duck) while flying free.  And I must speak out for that which is disallowed from flying free to be photographed dead by the hunter with the high-powered gun.  Of course, I am free not to hunt and not to gaze upon these photos; but I am also a nature, animal/pet lover; so I choose to celebrate nature and love  and care for my pets and I feel by putting this small tribute out there that others, too, may choose to contribute their positive love of the wild and the free, and domesticated, too.  Will I discontinue my ingestion of meat products?  Time will tell a I confront my own demons.  Peace

Taking care of pets are important. Your pets are wonderful. I do miss seeing your cats, bird and the dogs.

Staying away from red meat has been pretty easy. I do not each much of it anymore. Fish, Chicken are my primary sources of protein.

Wow, written with passion Loyce. As I slice meat to make my delicious, wholesome sandwiches, I think about each precious animal who gave up their life, although unwillingly, to feed the humans who may think they are consuming a plant rather than a living animal who would, if they had a choice, continue to exist on this planet. Although this thought has not convinced me to abstain from my consumption of various meats, I still appreciate those who thank each animal who has provided them with nourishment. Thank you for your insight and sensitivity to all living things on this planet.
Linda

smilies/smiley.gifAnd to Linda The Compassionate, I ask: What living thing--even a lettuce--does not give up its "life" when plucked from the earth; but we humans CHOOSE to consume that which once lived; so, hopefully, we can do so in gratitude and, perhaps, give back by planting flowers and even adopting pets and caring for them to bring about a balance to the debit we leave. I love discussing the philosophy; so we can be grateful to Craig for this Buzz site. Yeah, Craig. L! smilies/cool.gif
