What Ever Happened to Officer Friendly?
Written by Gary Moffat
Tuesday, 24 July 2007
It is unlikely that Robert Ferriera will be driving through Auburn again any time soon.
On July 5 at about 5 p.m., Ferriera, a 45-year-old Auburn resident, found himself face down on the pavement across from the Courthouse at the intersection of Maple St. and Lincoln Way. No fewer than five Auburn police officers had their semi-automatic handguns trained on his back.

For my money, living on Millertown Road is as good as it gets.
Folks with homes perched on the rim of the canyon will argue that their views are to die for, and I can’t deny that. Then in October of 2005, this community was knocked back on its heels when a massive blaze devastated a full block of the historic district. More than 70 people lost their jobs and with many small, nearby businesses already suffering, it was clear we had hit bottom.

Survival of the Fittest: On being a
Couch Potato In the “Endurance Capital of the World”
(This article appears courtesy of OnlyInAuburn.com. It was not published in the Sentinel)
I don’t own skis or a kayak or a mountain
bike. I don’t run anywhere, not even across the street.
I don’t know how to swim or ski (on any surface), and I certainly
don’t climb rocks. If I had to guess, the Western States
100* is a list of the most-wanted criminals on the lam in Washington,
Oregon and California. Moreover, skinny people irritate me.
Then why the heck am I living in Auburn, California, the self-anointed
“Endurance Capital of the World”?
