Cheers & Jeers - September 10, 2008
No CHEER or JEER for Sarah Palin, Sen. McCain’s choice for VP, just disbelief. What sort of mother is so ego driven that she would knowingly subject her teenage daughter to embarrassment across the nation. Maybe I’m  too old fashioned to believe a mother’s first job is to protect and care for her children. – M.H.

CHEERS to Slow Food Placer for bringing the concepts of the world’s Slow Food movement to local residents. – R.G.

CHEERS to Bill Martin for finally telling the sad but true story of Sierra College. As a graduate of Sierra, I have watched with shock as the board’s ideological bent has led our once fine college down the path of failure. – M.H.

JEERS to the businessman who has yet to finish restoring his building after the October 2005 fire in Old Town Auburn. Neighboring businesses do not need thoroughfares closed off and ugly orange cones out in the street. – J.E.F.
