Jim McCauley to discuss election results
The Auburn Area Republican Women are hosting a luncheon on Friday, June 13 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Sizzler in Auburn.  Guest speaker will be Jim McCauley from the Placer County Election Department who will discuss election results. Veterans for Peace to show documentary
“On The Line,” a documentary about the movement to close the School of the Americas (SOA), will be shown on Saturday, June 21 at 10 a.m. at the Old State Theater at 985 Lincoln Way in Downtown Auburn. SOA is a U.S. Army school that trains Latin American soldiers. In a world where politics, passion, and Constitutional rights collide, protesters discuss their activism, the dark side of U.S. foreign policy, and the challenges of protesting since 9/11. The cast includes actors Martin Sheen and Susan Sarandon; Fr. Roy Bourgeois, Founder of School of the Americas Watch; John Perkins, author of Confessions of an Economic Hitman; Bob Barr, political analyst and former US Congressman; Gerry Weber with the ACLU. Loomis resident tapped for task force

Jeff Rodzen, 33, of Loomis, has been appointed by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger to the California Crime Laboratory Review Task Force. He previously worked for the California Department of Fish and Game as a senior wildlife forensic specialist. From 2001 to 2004, he served as a post doctoral researcher in the Department of Animal Science at the University of California, Davis. In 2001, Rodzen worked as an intern at the California Department of Justice, Berkeley DNA Laboratory. He is also an active member of the California Association of Criminalists. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no salary. Rodzen is a Republican.
