Supervisor Candidate -- Jennifer Montgomery, candidate for Placer  County’s District 5 supervisorial seat, attended the State Theater  Marquee Lighting party on Friday with her husband Dan Gomez. They hail  from Serene Lakes near Truckee. Montgomery is set to face off against  incumbent Bruce Kranz this November in a run-off race since he failed  to win more than 50 percent of the vote in the June election.

Birthday Girls -- Auburn resident Kay Muselin, left, and Casablanca  Salon owner Shari Smith, celebrated their birthdays on Friday. Kay’s  husband, Bill, was more than happy to supply birthday hugs to both  gals.
