I have lived in the Auburn Area for close to 18 years and just discovered Max's Deli. Wow! Fresh, Fabulous, Delicious, Clean, Pleasant, Friendly........it's my new favorite place to eat out. It doesn't get any better. Thank you Max for bringing great food and class to Auburn!
Agree. Their Sandwiches are the best. Ordered the no. 6 today with a side salad. That is a 1/2 sandwich with the side salad. Had the turkey Avocado on Rye Bread. It was superb. Did not know that they have free Wi-Fi! Which makes even a better place to go for lunch. It does get busy at noon time.
Pleasant Experience and shall return in the near future to this terrific Cafe!

ZEST AT THE MAXMEISTER'S, Thursday, 27 September 2007
Max out your luncheon experience by eating at Max's. Not only is the food tasty/zesty; but Max, when he's on hand, can be a friendly connection. I must visit Max soon for my soup fix and love those tasty tuna sandwiches and yummy chocolate and toffee cookies that put me on the stairmaster for hours--ha.

"FRESH" would be the best way to describe the food at Max's. Everything I've eaten here has been wonderful. The TURKEY AND AVOCADO sandwich is my favorite. All the flavors blend so well together. Get there before NOON when all the office folks fill up the place.

New York goes Left Coast at Max's!, Thursday, 10 May 2007
I recently tried the CA. REUBEN sandwich at Max's. I'm used to a Reuben made with corned beef, sauerkraut and russian dressing, so I was a little hesitant when I ordered it, having been told by the very personable gal at the counter that Max's sandwich differs in that it is made with pastrami, raw red cabbage and a tomato aioili or some such thing. Boy was I wrong. That sandwich was probably one of the best I've tried in a long time. And much to my surprise Max's features Boylan's Vintage sodas, something I remember from my childhood in New Jersey. I didn't know they had them out here. I will be going back soon.

Best Deli Sandwiches in Auburn California, Tuesday, 01 May 2007
I've been eating at Max's at least once a month since I discovered it last year.
Max's Deli was nominated for "Best Cheap Eats - Sandwich & Deli" and came in a close second place to "Mr Pickle".
My favorite sandwiches include the "Number Six" (turkey & avocado on ciabatta) but the pastrami on rye is a close second.
Max's is not cheap, but you get a lot of value for the money. You'd have to fly to NYC (spending hundreds on airfare) to find a better sandwich.
I've lived in Auburn for the past 5 years and only heard about Max's recently. I'm glad I got the chance to check it out. I had the #2 Black Forest Ham & Smoked Cheddar. The full size sandwich was perfect for me and the honey mustard was a great touch. I'll definitely be back to try the coffee, more sandwiches and free WiFi!
