Very good sushi...an even cooler atmosphere! All the women servers are wearing authentic Japanese garb. And there is an awesome upstairs eating area. Was suprised to find brown rice steeped into the green tea, but it was surprisingly yummy. Fairly priced, as well.

I gave Hanami another try and they still disappointed me the sushi is just not good and I eat a lot of sushi in town and out of town and the quality, price and taste just are not appealing. Will not try Hanami again I will stick to the other sushi bar up the street where I bring everyone that comes to town and they have not disappointed anyone!

It was my privilege to visit Auburn shortly after Hanami's Grand Opening in January, 2007. I stumbled upon the restaurant without suspecting the treasures waiting inside, and I will never forget the wonderful evening I had. I have since moved to Auburn, and dine at Hanami Sushi every chance I get. From the moment I walk in the door, I am enveloped in a brocade of attentive service and lovely atmosphere. Soon after ordering, authentic, delicious and well-portioned food is presented beautifully, and the service is always very friendly, personal and prompt. The staff is genuinely happy to see my young daughters when we visit, and my family and I always leave Hanami with smiles on our faces.
Wow, this was interesting.
The environment was absolutely different.
So is this what they call "authentic" food.
Nice atmospere, but the sauce on the rolls were sometimes bit too much. I tried the jalapeno dish, and it was spicy. I liked it, though.
But what suprised me was really the atmosphere (forgive me if I'm too repetitive).
There were floweres everywhere. On the walls, rolls, garden, and workers' uniforms. I was astounded by their surroundings.
The quality of the food and the reasonable prices, sure delighted me. Over all, this experience was very interesting.
Ironically, I am very excited to write this "critique".
I love Japanese food, so I have been to many Japanese restaurants but hanamiis the best I have ever been to!!!!!
I love their sushi rolls. My favorite is JJ roll. I also like their presentation for their sushi rolls. They are so beautiful.
Everybody working there is also very friendly.
If you wanna eat real Japanese sushi, you should go there!
I have been to many Japanese restaurants in the area, and nothing comes close to this place. I even prefer it over Mikuni and I could never go back to any other place. They have around 50 rolls, are sized very big, and very reasonable. My wife is Japanese and she loves the Sushi rolls.
I lived in San Francisco for over 7 years and have been waiting for a sushi place like this in Auburn for over 18 years. This is as good as it gets folks. The one bad review must have been from Hapa Sushi where you aren't even allowed to talk or order from the (American) sushi chef. Plus the JJ roll is twice the size of a normal restaurant. Anyone who doesn't like this place would probably enjoy Applebees instead.
The food and service are excellent. I am not sure who would complain about a few seeds in a jalapeno - if you don't like spice, don't order a jalapeno dish.
The care they take with rolls and the more traditional menu is a refreshing break from the other places in the area.
I eat a lot of sushi and tried Hanami and was very disappointed. The rolls all taste the same and then we had the jalapeno appetizer and they did not take the seeds out we could not eat it! The service was very slow and poor. I will not eat there again I think Ninja Sushi is great and that is where my friends and I will continue to eat.
