Models from last year’s Black & White Fashion Show provided some timeless ideas of what to wear to Auburn’s Black & White Ball. This year’s fashion show was cancelled late Monday night due to an “unforeseen scheduling conflict.” Courtesy file photo.
While there will be no Black & White Ball Fashion Show this year, the Sentinel is trying to fill the void. The biggest street party in the foothills, the Black & White Ball, will be Sept. 15 and as always you can expect ladies and gentlemen dressed as colorful characters straight out of Bond movies, as well as those in classy, black and white apparel.
There are many options for fabulous dresses and gowns for the ladies
and Fit for a Princess, located near SweetPea’s Restaurant, is just
one. Store manager Skye Briggs said they have a wide variety to choose
from.
“We have a lot of really cute black and white dresses right now. Black
or white halters and black and white polka dot dresses, which would be
cute with a pair of stilettos,” she said. Need something more exotic to
go with the James Bond theme? Never fear. “We have a variety of silk
kimono-style dresses and shirts, as well as wraps, that could be really
cute.”
The store also offers accessories such as necklaces, crowns and anklets.
When it comes to accessories, Peggy Seitzinger, marketing manager for
Roper’s Jewelers, said jewelry is just as important as the dress.
“You can wear the same dress that you wore the last four years to the
Ball, but as long as you change the jewelry, no one is going to
notice,” Seitzinger said. “The quintessential little black dress goes a
long way, and if you change the jewelry, it changes the look of the
dress.”
Jenna Means, esthetician for Ultimate Beauty Source, said they also
have a lot to offer ladies looking for fabulous ideas for the Ball.
“We offer hair, salon, makeup, jewelry and accessories,” she said. “We
have hair accessories, clips and the salon is actually separate, so
they offer formal hair designs (for all sorts of occasions).”
