Placer County has been hit with another lawsuit over its recent approval of the massive Placer Vineyards development west of Roseville.
Sutter County, Placer’s next door neighbor to the northwest, claims in
a petition for a writ of mandate filed in Auburn late last week that
the 5,239-acre Placer Vineyards project will overload its highways.
Sutter County also questions the sufficiency of the development’s environmental impact report, which it wants set aside.
Two weeks ago, the Sierra Club and Sierra Foothills Audubon Society
sued the county over Placer Vineyards, charging the project does not
preserve sufficient wildlife habitat.
Placer Vineyards is planned to include 14,100 residential units and
more than 250 acres of commercial development during its 30-year
buildout.
