JEERS to all those inconsiderate smokers who don’t know what to do with their cigarette butts. Try using a trash can. – S.P.D.

CHEERS to Dave and Mike of Foresthill Towing for coming to our aid with a new battery for our car on a very hot day. Also, CHEERS to Pak N Save who stored our ice cream and miscellaneous items in their  freezer while we waited for the new battery. – E.L.

CHEERS to the county workers who keep the Veteran’s Statue plot well landscaped on Fulweiler Ave. Your efforts have paid off. The flowers, especially the roses, look so great. – D.W.

CHEERS to Earle Eisley for a great class on fall vegetable gardening. – D.N.

CHEERS to Latitudes Restaurant’s Pat Enochs for hosting a unique tomato tasting event during the August 9 Art Walk. Tasters enjoyed Pat’s tasty, unusual homegrown tomato varieties. – R.S.

CHEERS to Fowler’s TV on Lincoln Way in Auburn for their great sales and service. I bought a 32" HDTV for a reasonable price. They delivered and set it up for me. They also hauled away my old TV at no extra charge. You can’t beat that kind of service and it’s one of the reasons I shop locally. – C.B.

CHEERS to the State Theater for bringing "Sicko" to us. – V.K.

JEERS to the history re-writers who claim High Street was Highway 40. Lincoln Way was named after the "Lincoln Highway," which was Highway 40. – R.A.

JEERS to the thief who made off with the American flag that once flew on the front porch of St. Luke’s Victorian Attic thrift shop in Downtown Auburn. – P.B.
