Auburn police and officials of the Placer Union High School District declined to make any enlightening comments Tuesday about the August 27 gun scare at Placer High School, which resulted in a campus lockdown for a few hours.
“The case remains under investigation,” said Police Chief Valerie
Harris. APD officers arrested a Placer graduate, Francisco Evangelista,
19, three days after the incident and charged him with felony
possession of a firearm on school grounds.
In the wake of Evangelista’s arrest, a report was circulated that a
Placer teacher had hidden the suspect in a classroom during the search
of the campus by police.
As of Tuesday of this week, the teacher was not arrested and was in his classroom doing what he’s paid to do — teach.
Bart O’Brien, superintendent of the Placer Union High School District,
said his office is awaiting the outcome of the APD’s investigation
before determining if the teacher did anything wrong.
