A Placer County sheriff’s deputy has been suspended from duty and is free on $10,000 bail following his arrest on suspicion of having sexual relations with a 16-year-old girl.

Sheriff’s Lt. Jeffrey Ausnow identified the deputy as Michael S. Johnson, 26, a member of the sheriff’s department for two years. Johnson was assigned to the sheriff’s substation in Colfax at the time of his arrest late last week. The City of Colfax contracts with the sheriff’s department for police services.

Johnson is due in superior court in Auburn October 23 for arraignment and entry of plea. His bail bond was posted by Frank Calabretta’s Bail House.
