Summary
Japanese and American Restaurant and Grill (and Sushi Bar) in North Auburn, near the corner of Grass Valley Highway (Hwy 49) and Bell Road.

Great food, great service, and exceptional quality are the highlights of this establishment.

"Hapa Sushi" means 1/2 sushi in Japanese...it reflects the multi-national cuisine reflected by its menu. (If you have someone who can't handle asian food or sushi, they will be satisfied by the many sandwiches, burgers and steaks on the menu)

I just went here for lunch today and was very impressed by the quality and variety of the rolls on the menu. They were very accomadating and the service was great. If you are looking for something different for lunch in this area, I suggest you try this place. I was very happy with the experience.

I tried this place on a Monday night around 7:30pm and I was the only customer. Soon after I sat down other people started showing up. I had the Caterpillar, 1/2 Sake To Me, and the Tempura Shrimp App. The Caterpillar was great as were my other choices.

Service was very good and friendly. My bill was about $30 before tip (I also had a Sam Adams beer).

If you live in North Auburn and don't feel like driving to Downtown Auburn, this is the place to go.

I have eaten at Hapa often, however recently I found the quality is not as good. However if you want a quick sushi fix it will satisfy you. It is average but definitely not the best in town!

Great food, great staff, great service.
Definitely one of the better restaurants in Auburn, and probably the best Japanese food!

The first time I went to Happa was in the evening - 45min wait and rude staff, we left without eating.

Second time - tried to call in a phone order, rude staff again, didn't want to be bothered, passed me onto someone else who would take the order. I arrived to get my order and the waitress asked ME if I wanted a little more wasabe after realizing that there was only a tiny smidge with my order. I said sure. When she asked the tall white dude making Sushi for more, he huffed and grabbed a HUGE amount and threw it into the to-go container - what a jerk.

I should have given up on this place after that. I tried once more in the afternoon and the owner was working. I had the Caterpillar and it was great! I will only go back in the afternoon...do not go here at night until they fix the customer service issues.

When they stopped doing the "Happy Hour" (tempura & gyoza for $2 each, sake for $2)....Hapa Sushi no longer had any attraction for me.............You can get better sushi at MIZU (an all-you-can eat Sushi Buffet in Roseville) for less than $10.
