Joe Caribe is awesome. For years my wife and I have wished for something like Joe Caribe. Auburn has enough places to eat that are just plain boring. When I consider eating out I rarely have a craving for anything offered in my own back yard, a wonderful place in every respect otherwise. Years ago I would eat at a quaint little Jamaican eatery in Sacramento that had great food with deliciuosly different flavors. Joe Caribe has brought that experience here to Auburn with his take-out restaurant. I have eaten there at least 2 dozen times and have brought many friends and family to experience his cuisine, all are now raving fans with every menu item being "over-the top" delicious. My hope is that Joe continues to dish out the best food choice now available in Auburn with an eye on a larger site. No doubt we need a lively new option.
Oh, and to the gentleman (DJ MC), who wrote the scornful review that had little to do with Joe Caribes FANTASTIC food or clean atmosphere, take outs aren't required to provide restrooms, and the stools are for your comfort while you wait. Don't hack on him for your hygene issues.

excellent fish tacos, two for $5.95, Monday, 11 February 2008
This is a great little caribbean take-out place with excellent fish tacos. I've also tried the Jamaican patties which are flakey, golden-brown with curried vegetables and delicious yellow curry noodles with dried papaya and toasted peanuts. Lively music and fun atmosphere, good for kids although there weren't any highchairs. There are a few stools inside and some tables outside. Busy at lunch but you can watch your food being made. Very clean, fast friendly and inexpensive for such high quality ingredients.
Fresh and delicious food! Great for lunch and dinner with great low prices. I'd recommend it to anyone time and again. The service is great-every time I drop in, I am remembered and made to feel at home while waiting for my freshly made fare. Just another great addition to the Downtown Auburn business area!

No Bathroom.....lousy service too!, Saturday, 19 January 2008
Over priced fish taco place....would be much better if they had a rest room....................How did the City Of Auburn allow a food place to open without a bathroom, you ask?......................Because "Joe Caribe" is a Take-Out place, not intended for eating at the establishment...........................Yet, there is an abundance
of stools, at a counter which extends across two walls, seating 8 persons.....................Not only that but the service is rather crappy when you consider that I asked for ice water and got a cup of water with no ice............As take-out food, its OK from a taste perspective--- and would earn 2.5 stars despite being rather pricey....................Not having a bathroom is INEXCUSABLE............. the lukewarm tap water was the final straw---NOT RECOMMENDED!!!
