Irma “Mickey” Bohnet Services for longtime Auburn resident Irma “Mickey” Bohnet will be held at Calvary Chapel in Auburn at noon on Friday, February 1. Bohnet, born May 21, 1927, passed away on January 23. She married her husband, Quintin “Dusty” Bohnet, in 1948. Six months later they moved to Alaska and homesteaded 160 acres for six years. After moving back to California, they settled in Auburn in 1973. She is survived by her husband, Dusty; a brother, Gary Brockman; five children, Gary, Alan, Donn, Lyle and Diane; eleven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. Chapel of the Hills is handling arrangements.
Tressie Bess Funeral services were held Monday for Tressie Bess, who passed away on Jan. 22 in Auburn. She was 93. Bess was a longtime resident of Fair Oaks and more recently of Newcastle. She
was preceded in death by her husband, James Henry Bess. She is survived
by a son, James of Auburn; a brother, Noble Carlton of Newcastle; a
granddaughter, Debra L. Rife of Colfax; a grandson, Randall Bess of
Waikanae, New Zealand; three great-grandchildren, and five
great-great-grandchildren. She was interred at the New Auburn Cemetery. Fabio Arcila Rocklin resident Fabio Arcila, 66, passed away on January 18. He
was born on September 24, 1941 in Colombia, South America, where he
graduated from high school. He completed his Bachelor and Masters
degrees at West Virginia University. In 1967 he married Amparo “Amy”
Vivas and he started his career as an industrial engineer with General
Electric. He spent the last decade as a financial planner, most
recently with the Principal Financial Group. He is survived by
his wife of 41 years, Amy; a daughter, Patricia Hill; a son, Fabio
Arcila Jr. of New York City; two grandchildren; sisters, Margarita,
Julieta, and Stella Arcila; and his mother, Leonor Arcila of Bogota,
Colombia. A home reception is being planned for family and
friends. Donations may be made in his name to the UC Davis Cancer
Center, 4501 X Street, Sacramento, CA 95817. Helen Anne Bowles Helen
Anne Bowles, 90, passed away January 18 in Auburn. She was born
December 16, 1917 in Seattle, Wash. She is survived by a son, John
Bowles of Las Vegas; a daughter, Roxan Brethour of Cool; and three
grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Tom. Rudolf Hermann Winter Auburn resident Rudolf “Rudi” Hermann Winter, 89, passed away January 21. He
was born in Grube-Ilse, Thuringia, Germany on January 1, 1919. He
emigrated to the United States in 1959, settling in San Mateo. The
family moved to north Auburn in 1963. He is survived by his wife,
Monika Dean of Auburn; daughter Beate Martinez; sons Roland Winter of
Stockton, Wolfgang Winter of Palmer, Alaska; son Thorolf Winter of
Erlenbach, Germany; daughter Renate Gernhardt of Aschaffenburg,
Germany; and numerous grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. He
was preceded by a wife, Betty, his son Gerold, and his brother
Gottfried. The family has chosen to hold a private gathering.

Education Street, Auburn, CA 95603. IN MEMORY Leva Lee Massa Long time Auburn resident Leva Lee Massa passed away at Sutter Auburn Faith Hospital on January 18, 2008. Leva
was born in Orrick, Missouri on August 14, 1914 and married Edward
Massa in September 1940. Leva was a homemaker and part time office
assistant for various doctors in the Midwest and California. Ed and Lee
left Missouri to move to southern California for Ed’s career in the
golf business. Much of their life was spent in the Bay area. Ed and Lee
moved to Auburn in 1979 to be near their niece, Cheryl Maki, and her
family. Lee enjoyed her various volunteer activities such as
working for Auburn Faith hospital as a pink lady, volunteering for the
Catholic Church of which she was a member, helping at the library and
taking care of stray cats and kittens. Her beloved husband Edward
pre-deceased her in 2001. Other than her niece Cheryl and Cheryl’s
husband Randy, Leva is survived by her nephew Gary Lillard of Auburn,
great nephew Anthony Maki-Gill, his wife Tina and children Andrew and
Marissa, great nephew Steven Maki, niece Carolyn Mason, and her husband
Pat of Grandview, Missouri and her brother and sister-in-law Jack and
Anne Massa of Kansas City, Missouri. At her request, no services are planned. Any rememberances in her honor may be made to the SPCA. IN MEMORY Maria Pombo Farinha 11/06/1902 - 1/25/2008 Maria
(Mary) was born in Ponta de Pargo, Madeira Island, Portugal on November
6, 1902. She passed away at a local hospital on January 25, 2008. She
was one of eight children. She immigrated to America in 1928, two
years after she married Frank Farinha. She and her husband became
ranchers near Lincoln. Frank died in an industrial accident in 1947,
leaving her to care for their four children and a 70-acre ranch. In
1964, she sold her ranch and moved to Auburn. She was also
preceded in death by her son Paul and seven of her siblings. She is
survived by four children, Ernest (Dorothy) Farinha, Mario (Aileen)
Farinha, Teresa Farinha and Lorraine Farinha, 10 grandchildren and 19
great-grandchildren. She was a member of the following
Portuguese societies: SPRSI, UPEC, APDES, NPHA, and Our Lady of Fatima,
as well as St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church. A Rosary will be
held at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church Wednesday, January 30 at
7:00 p.m. with viewing commencing at 5:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be
celebrated at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church on Thursday, January
31 at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at the New Auburn Cemetery.
