No longer should property owners complain about not being informed about a development being planned near them. County supervisors amended the county code requiring signs be placed on nearby property with information about the project. The 4 by 8-foot signs are to be erected adjacent to each public right-of-way street frontage that the project site abuts. The signs shall include information about the pending development project and include contact phone numbers and a brief description of the approvals being sought along with other information.
The applicant is to be responsible for constructing the signs,
maintaining them and shall remove all signs after 30 days from the
start of project construction. “The most common complaint I hear is that ‘I was unaware of the project,’” said Supervisor Kirk Uhler. In another matter, a salary increase for law enforcement officers
covered by Proposition F was authorized. It will cost Placer County
taxpayers nearly $400,000 for the remainder of the year. Placer County supervisors approved an ordinance on Tuesday implementing
the initiative that sets the salaries of sheriff’s department
classifications. Voters approved the proposition that was sponsored by
the Placer County Sheriff’s Association in 1977. The proposition
formula determines the maximum salaries for comparable classes of
positions in El Dorado, Nevada, and Sacramento counties. County officials do not have a choice in setting the salaries, but must follow Proposition F.
This year, the salary of the undersheriff and assistant sheriff will go
up 5.52 percent; captain, 5.55 percent; lieutenant, 5.51 percent;
sergeant, 5.65 percent; chief deputy coroner, 4.19 percent; and
investigator and welfare fraud investigator, 5.64 percent.
