'Controversial' Billboard Replaced
A bikini is a sight for sore eyes for many people, ever since 007 Sean Connery saw Ursula Andress emerge from the waters as Honey Ryder, clad in a now iconic white two piece bathing suit. Others may not agree, especially concerning a large billboard in Auburn advertising California Sun tanning salons. The ad, portraying a bikini wearing blond, was covered by unknown vandals with a black tarp with the words 'no porn in our town'. The choice of words shocked California Sun's owner Mike Blore, a conservative family man with two daughters and a young son.
Blore told news sources that the ad was meant to display a confident woman rather than a sex object. Furthermore, he claims that several 'skimpy' outfits were nixed at the photo shoot. The fact that the billboard is erected close to an elementary school outside Auburn may have had something to do with the vandals' actions, and the subsequent decision of the billboard's owners (CBS outdoors) to replace the ad with a young girl and several puppies promoting animal option.
Blore took umbrage not only at the fact that the company who owns the billboard has no qualms with putting a
Viagra online ad in a children's program, but also because he feels that he could have talked things over with whoever disagreed with his ad, hinting at the idea that he was not married to the idea and would have been willing to change it. Hopefully, this will not lead to 'Dr No' being edited so that we see a litter of puppies come out of the water.
